Degussa has started manufacturing
Aerodisp aerosil fumed silica dispersions
at its new Mobile, AL plant. The
plant, which is part of Degussa’s production
site in Mobile, AL, more than
doubles its global production capacity
for Aerodisp products. The new dispersion
plant will initially focus on waterbased
dispersions of fumed silica, additional
products include dispersions of
fumed alumina, fumed titanium dioxide
and fumed mixed oxide.
Degussa has just completed plans to
build a new isophorone production unit
at its Herne, Germany facility. The unit
is scheduled to begin operation in 2007.
Isophorone is used mainly as a solvent
in the formulation of industrial paints,
derivatives such as isophorone diamine
and isophorone diisocyanate also find
use in solvent free coatings for industrial
flooring and in the production of lightand
weather-stable automotive paint
